"scalawag" is just a white background with the words "This is the Title, Scalawag" in green lettering. It would soon go on to be the center frame in the following "scalawagzb" (with "scalawagza" being a complete disaster).
In an effort to refine the effort with the frames, "tscalawag" - the version 2.0 if you will in the Scalawag series - was created. tScalawag was quite the accomplishment; the vision was more clearly realized, notes were placed directly on the site for future versions. Without tScalawag, "uscalawag" never would've come to be. But, the reason for tScalawag's failure is its rampant use of frames - imagine: 10 different web pages opening up simultaneously. That's what it was, in essence. Simplification had to be in order.
Welcome uScalawag (3.0). uScalawag did away with the frames in favor of a large table. I went ahead and shifted things ever-so-slightly to the left to give it a "to the left" kinda feel, while also leaving an extra strip on the right should I decide to add anything later. And since it's just one page, it should load up spectacularly.
I didn't want to taint the beauty that is uScalawag, so I quickly set up "vscalawag". vScalawag is almost the same as uScalawag, except now it has links set up as a part of the first "issue." This trial issue, mind you, is comprised solely of my own stories. But, the links work, the format works, it's all coming together.
I went ahead and did some research yesterday, checking out my competition and figuring out what I want and what I don't want for my site. While I like the simplicity of my site, look for future versions of Scalawag to have at least a picture or two somewhere. I witnessed a lot of sites with an ASSTON of writing on their front page, various links and whatnot; so I'm glad mine's simpler. But, it's too plain. There's nothing inviting about my site yet. I'm hoping to create a really kickass banner for the top of the page. As it stands, I have the black borders, a couple of gray strips where the links are located, and three different shades of blue, with black, gray, and white lettering. It doesn't look too bad actually, even though it's early.
If I can figure it out, I'll upload it onto Devin's server (on which my other website is already located). That way, my progress can be observed and mocked accordingly.
And even though it was only intended as a temporary name, I'm kinda liking the word "Scalawag". I might just keep it, since it's the only thing that sounds good. But, scalawag.com is already taken ... Jesus! By some damned family who's posting their baby's pictures! What a waste! Crap, I was hoping it was something I could strongarm them out of through boycott and picketing.
