Yeah, so I'm not the biggest fan of having my birthday. It makes me exceedingly uncomfortable, a lot like that song "Time" by Pink Floyd. But, on a short-term scale, I hate having all this attention on me. Like, it's my day so I get to do whatever I want to do and I have to subject everyone around me to this very same practice.

Which is why I didn't mind how my birthday turned out this year. Aside from taking the usual phone calls, I slept in until about 10 or 11 in the morning, I showered and shaved for the first time in days, I went to White Castle and did my grocery shopping when it was early enough to beat the crowds, I watched a whole lotta Freaks & Geeks, and that's about it. Nothin' fancy, nothin' exciting.

Of course, I kind of HAD to take it easy this weekend, on account of me having the cold and everything. Made for a pisspoor effort on St. Patrick's Day, I'll tell you what. I think we're looking at the first entirely dry weekend of the 2007 calendar year. Oh sure, Emily TRIED to make bloody marys last night with dinner, but I only managed a couple of sips before dumping the rest out. I'm thinking that drink might taste better if it ACTUALLY had blood in it, because whatever the hell we had last night wasn't doing it for me. The "green" olives tasted exactly like black olives (only green), the tomato "juice" tasted like tomato soup, and the vodka was drowned out by the taste of me wanting to vomit (and lemon juice). I might be willing to give it another go sometime, with better ingredients, but I might also need to be super tanked before I can start enjoying bloody marys.

Saturday was a whole lot more of the same, I might add. Over the last 2 or 3 days, I've watched 13 hourlong episodes of Freaks & Geeks; I think there are only five more left in the series, which is tragic. Think "The Wonder Years" meets the movie "Dazed & Confused". It's that good.

Neal: So I wake up this morning, and guess what's sitting at the foot of my bed?
Bill: A turd?
Neal: Yes Bill, a turd.
Bill: Eew!
Neal: An Atari!

Neal: I'm Jewish. That's no cakewalk either. Last year I was elected school treasurer. I didn't even run!

So, I don't know what happened, but apparently this show was on from the 99-2000 season. Obviously, I remember it being on and I remember never watching it, but I was totally clueless to the fact that it was on SO LONG ago! That's always the way with these funny and smart TV shows, gone before they've been allowed to tell all their stories.
